Recently, Network Kinection had the opportunity to work with Palomar College student, Hira Arif. After being placed, Hira had the opportunity to write about her internship experience with Solatube:
"In high school, I really enjoyed being technically savvy with computers – once, I tinkered with graphic design software, and created a website for a local library. My partner and I entered it into a competition, and we won first place! When it came time to pick my college major, I looked for a something where I could advance my computer skills and incorporate business skills. The answer was going into Management Information Systems (MIS).
I first heard about Solatube International’s Commercial Marketing internship through Palomar College’s Career Center. The position involved working with the Marketing Department to develop their online presence. I also got to work closely with the Vice President of Commercial Sales. I learned so much about marketing as well as the production of a manufacturing company. Along with my marketing projects, I was given an opportunity to: research leads for the Sales Department, work on a science paper for the Research Department, participate in a behind-the-scenes product photo shoot, and plan and execute an event for their suppliers.
This knowledge will greatly benefit me once I obtain my MIS degree and look for a management position. My internship gave me a great stepping stone to my ultimate career goal. My goal is to become a vital part of a company where I can share ideas, work on campaigns and projects, and become a team leader."
